The History of
Teresita’s Restaurant
Teresita’s Restaurant specializes
in authentic Mexican cuisine with recipes that have been
handed down from one generation to the next - originating
from the Pueblo of Teul de Gonzalez Ortega in Zacatecas,
Mexico.
Teresita’s masterful
hand at cooking has been sharing her homemade dishes with
the public for over a decade when it was first called Puerto
Nuevo restaurant since May 1, 1983. It began as a
humble establishment with a seating capacity of 25 and
a take-out counter, with family contributing in sharing
various responsibilities to maintain the restaurant.
Through Teresita’s
flavorful dishes and the family’s eleven-year dedication
to the restaurant, they decided to expand and renovate
its facilities to accommodate a growing clientele in order
to provide a casual but unique dining experience. It was
then that it was officially and appropriately re-named Teresita’s
Restaurant on March 28 th 1994, located at
3826 E. 1 st Street in East Los Angeles.
Though
the restaurant has its own crew of employees, eldest
son Jesus Antonio manages the restaurant while husband
Antonio continues to maintain the facilities. Teresita
can still be found supervising the kitchen, preparing
the daily menu, serving dishes and greeting the customers
with a warm and welcoming smile. |
